2007 - Autonomy of START St. Gallen and foundation of STARTglobal association

Having been an autonomous part of the students' union body of the University of St. Gallen (HSG) for 10 years, START St. Gallen re-structured its business by separating from the union and founding the START St. Gallen association. At the same time the STARTglobal association was founded as the legal head-organisation for all START offices.

2006 - Ten years of Entrepreneurship

In June 2006, START celebrated its 10th birthday at the START Summit at Unternehmerforum Lilienberg.

2004 - Foundation of START Liechtenstein and START Winterthur

In 2004, the integration of START Winterthur and START Liechtenstein represents another milestone in the STARTglobal history, enlarging the powerful network to 8 member offices.

2003 - STARTsummit on Mount Säntis

In November 2003, more than 100 entrepreneurs, experts and students met on top of Mount Säntis, at more than 8'000 feet above sea-level, to exprience inspiring keynote speeches, workshops and discussions in an unprecedented atmosphere.

2002 - START honored as Entrepreneur of the Year

In 2002 about 30 new members enter START in Zurich, Lausanne and St.Gallen. New projects enrich the portfolio. In summer the START network was honored as "Entrepreneur of the Year" (category "Supporter for Entrepreneurship") by Ernst & Young.

2001 - More and more START Summits

In January: STARTforum 01. 130 students from Maastricht, Berlin, Leipzig, Lausanne, Zurich, St.Gallen, Munich, Basel, Paris... 180 entrepreneurs, professors and experts from Europe, South America, Russia. Wolfsberg is overbooked.

2000 - The New Millenium

In February 2000: STARTforum 00 - the fourth forum. 130 students meet 130 entrepreneurs, experts, and professors. Focus: linking technology with business. In May the START team is being restructured. Hermann Arnold, the last active founder at START leaves the organization.

1998 - Third START Summit

In February '98 the third STARTforum attracted 100 students, 40% of other universities, 50 entrepreneurs, among others David Amis, Marco Börries, Helmut Haussmann, Martin Schöller, Norbert Zimmermann. Focus: Entrepreneurial Skill Training and Development.

1997 - The Wolfsberg Year

In February '97 the first STARTforum took place at the Convention Center at the University of St.Gallen with 100 students of the HSG, 30 entrepreneurs, among others Massimo Lattmann, Cuno Pümpin, Lothar Späth. Focus: develop entrepreneurial spirit among students. In June 1997 the STARTforum got a new "home": The castle of Wolfsberg near to the Bodensee.

1996 - The Founding Year

In May 1996 the idea of an entrepreneurial organisation at the University of St.Gallen (HSG) was born during the St. Gallen Symposium (former ISC Symposium). The Cofunders: Peter Krämer, Heinrich von Liechtenstein, Bettina Hein (president of the student union HSG 1996/97), and Florian Lipp (president of AIESEC 1996/07).
